Personalized stamps like this one can also be used to memorialize significant events, like the tragic loss of life that has collectively come to be known as "Waco."
The ATF raid of the Branch Davidian compound at Mt. Carmel Center on February 28, 1993 led to a fifty-one day standoff culminating in a horrific showdown where eighty six people lost their life in this tragedy.
Members of the community represented multiple races and nationalities. Most were upstanding law abiding citizens who had never had so much as a traffic ticket. They were doctors, lawyers, postal mail carriers, teachers, business owners, etc. in the community.
The flag on this stamp is a woodcut drawing by Matthew Wittmer of the flag that flew over the Branch Davidians' church and home.
I designed these personalized stamps with this logo to commemorate those who died, and to remind all who see it of this horrific tragedy.
"Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it," to quote George Santayana. There are many lessons for that Americans can learn from the Branch Davidian tragedy, beginning with the necessity of honoring and defending the Constitution at all cost, against all threats, as the founding fathers intended.
