Animal Stamps are one of the most popular areas for topical stamp collectors which probably isn't a surprise when you think of the bonds between humans and domesticated animals.
On top of the emotional reasons, there is an amazing universe of beautifully engraved stamps issued by hundreds of different countries. This category also covers a broad enough area to ensure a lifetime of stamp collecting fun.
The sheer number of issued animal stamps will keep you busy for a lifetime so some collectors further specialize and may just collect bird stamps, like the beautiful set of tropical birds shown above in a Cayman Islands set issued during the British Honduras colonial rule.
Another benefit of so many potential stamps to collect is that you can put together a collection of stamps for pennies, buying only common stamps. Or you can focus on a high quality collection with high stamp collecting value.
Most of the stamps on this page fall into that category in the $10 to $100 range but some of the rarest of stamps have animals on them so you can expand to stratospheric stamp values if you have the means and desire.
One of my earliest memories of stamp collecting was of a packet of stamps given to me by my grandparents that had a handful of triangle stamps.
I was hooked on stamp collecting and even today these three-sided oddballs still make me take a second look!
A surprising number of countries have issued triangular stamps and there are surely thousands of different triangular stamps to be collected.
I get a lot of questions about where to buy stamps and I recommend you search out your local stamp dealer and check for upcoming stamp shows. You can find some great stamps and make connections with your local stamp community.
There are also stamp auctions, both in person and online that can be a wonderful resource depending on what you are looking for.
